Find Meaning (Vocabulary)…Add one word…Sentences…WORD SEARCH
1. Print Page.
2. Cut sheet in half along red line.
3. Fold-over Method
i. Check the word you’re learning to spell.
ii. Look at each letter separately.
iii. Notice any spelling rules. e.g. ‘i before e except after c’
iv. Remember any sound blends e.g. th, er, ar, est, ph, etc.
v. Take a visual photo of the word in your mind.
ii. NOW… Trace over the outline of the word to strengthen the visual picture of the word.
4. Fold backwards… on red line.
5. Write the word from memory.
i. on the thick black line.
ii. word ‘mother’ is an example.
6. Check spelling.
i. Unfold the strip of paper
ii. Check the correct spelling.
7. Fold-over again…
i. Go to the next red line
ii. Fold the strip of paper backwards again.
8.. Write from memory again.
9. Check again.

10. Fold the strip of paper again.
i. Write the word (mother) once more from memory.

11. If you make a mistake…
i. Notice the error.
ii. Memorise the correct spelling.
iii. Fold the strip back along the next red line.
iv. Continue writing the word from memory (correctly).

12. Continue to the end of the paper strip…
i. Using the Fold-over Method each time.
ii. By now you should know the word well enough to write it correctly in a story if needed.
13. Using a blank strip of paper.
i. You can practise this technique WITH ANY WORD, at any time.
ii. Just cut yourself a suitable strip of paper.
iii. Write the word from memory… check spelling… fold-over… write the word from memory… check again.
iv. Do this at least 7 times.

i. do this from your own knowledge or
ii. go to a dictionary, or
iii. ask someone.
iv. Write it in a good sentence.

4. Word Search
i. Find the word ‘mother’ on the grid
ii. Circle the letters making the word.
iii. All words are either horizontal or on a slope.
iv. No words are formed backwards.
v. You should find ‘mother’ 11 times.
